The plant will now undergo a testing period, the project company said in a press release on Tuesday. The installation of the foundations, cables and turbines took one year, as planned. The Westermeerwind facility is part of a larger complex, called Noordoostpolder Wind Farm, which consists of 86 wind turbines erected both in the water and on land along the dikes of the IJsselmeer freshwater lake. “At this time Westermeerwind Wind Farm is the largest wind farm in the Netherlands,” said Anne de Groot, director of Westermeerwind. Siemens built the wind park as the main contractor and will also maintain the facility for at least 15 years. Eneco will buy the plant’s output.
