Trelleborg Announces New Sealing Material Engineered for Automated Assembly of Products Used in Potable Water Applications
Time:02 Mar,2016
NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Mar 1, 2016) - Trelleborg Sealing Solutions will showcase its new Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber (EPDM) compound, Turel® E7Y30 at the WQA (Water Quality Association) Convention and Expo 2016 (Booth 1035). This sealing material has been specifically engineered to meet global potable water regulations NSF/ANSI 61 and to provide effective, automated assembly of seals.
Turel® E7Y30, with a hardness of 70 durometers, avoids the potential issue of high elongation in automated assembly processes and provides reduced friction, which leads to reduced abrasive wear and increased life. The material has been tested and approved for joining and sealing materials that come into contact with drinking water, meeting global regulation NSF/ANSI 61 Section 6. It has also been tested and approved for installation in end-point devices intended to dispense water for human ingestion (NSF/ANSI 61 Section 9).
Thijs Menzel, Market Research Director and Food, Beverage & Water Segment Manager at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, says: "As a leading global company, Trelleborg is proud to leverage its decades of expertise in the development of new materials that meet wide-ranging standards and global regulations. Our customers put their trust in Trelleborg because of our reputation and ability to deliver on our customers' requirements."
Turel® E7Y30 is an ideal material for products manufactured using automated assembly methods in end-use potable water applications such as faucets, valves, water heaters, ice makers, pumps, filters, meters, and fittings. The compound has excellent chloramine and chlorine resistance and can be supplied in various seal types, such as O-Rings, square rings, and gaskets.
The new material complements the extensive range of Trelleborg seals and components engineered to meet stringent standards and regulations for food, beverage and pharmaceutical systems, such as those issued by NSF International, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), 3A and the European Union.
