Vollmer VGrind 160
The VGrind 160 is Vollmer’s first entry into the grinding of solid carbide cutting tools, and is unlike alternate machines. It utilises two vertical spindles to enable multi-level machining. This is a first for machine tools of this type.
This innovative new approach enables tool manufacturers to produce large numbers of solid carbide milling cutters and drills quickly and precisely. Using five CNC-controlled axes, the VGrind 160 grinding machine ensures precise machining of workpieces with remarkable precision and productivity. With the VGrind 160, tool manufacturers can produce solid carbide drills and milling cutters with diameters between 2 and 20 mm.
For manufacturers processing carbide tipped circular saw blades, Vollmer will be giving MACH visitors an opportunity to witness the productivity and precision of the new Vollmer CHC840 grinding machine. This grinding centre delivers the ultimate in flexibility for the processing of saw blades up to 840mm diameter. With four CNC controlled axes, the new CHC840 provides accurate grinding of virtually all tooth geometries in a single cycle. The result for the customer is improved circular saw blade quality and tool life with innovative geometries.
Vollmer CHC840
A new multi-function hand wheel enables users to select and control grinding axes, helping avoid operator error. It can be used also as a potentiometer to conduct speed adjustments when running in automatic mode; this optimises machining times and improves surface finishes by enabling variable input of speeds for different surfaces.
From a productivity standpoint, the new CHC840 has oscillating grinding as standard for high material removal rates in just one cycle. In addition, the machine has a motor-driven hook and clearance angle adjustment for a rapid changeover from face to top grinding. This feature, along with optimum movement coordination that creates a shortened grinding time, is said to make the CHC is the most productive machine available for the sharpening of carbide tipped circular saw blades. CHC series capacity is between 80 and 840 mm diameter with a minimum bore diameter of 10 mm and a workpiece weight up to 30 kg. Blades can be up to 8 mm wide with a cutting width of 12 mm.
For companies that produce circular saw blades for metalcutting, Vollmer introduces the Loroch PowerStar 850 range of automatic saw sharpening machines, flexible CNC controlled machines developed for the precision processing of saw blades from 400 to 850mm diameter.
Vollmer PowerStar 850
The new PowerStar 850 is said to be ideal for machining HSS and segmental saw blades and it can also process friction and solid carbide saws. Its control features user-friendly symbols on a large colour touch screen monitor, and settings are easily available to enable changes to be made quickly. With all rake and clearance angles for standard teeth readily available, the PowerStar 850 also indicates the optimal grinding speed required.
Following a sharpening or re-toothing process, the PowerStar 850 can move the grinding head and cooling nozzles automatically to commence the chamfering process. A key characteristic is the ability to infinitely adjust the chamfer angle up to a maximum of 45 degrees. It also has an on-board coolant system with 300 L tank and 6 bar high-volume pump. Optional extras include Custom and Vario tooth shape geometries, precision grinding of multiple blades to an exact outside diameter, and external filter to extract HSS or carbide chips.
